How do you meet the needs of ESL students in a class with skill levels ranging from beginning to intermediate to advanced? This course presents strategies for planning lessons for learners of widely varying language skills.

Accelerated Learning to Facilitate Career Pathways

October 10 – October 29, 2023

This course introduces a wide variety of strategies for both program and classroom that move students towards their career goals in the most efficient way possible. Agencies are encouraged to register as a team of at least two members but may include up to four members.

October 9 – November 5, 2023

In this course, explore evidence-based instructional practices for supporting adult readers across levels, from beginning alphabetics through advanced comprehension.

College and Career Readiness Standards for ELA Implementation and Application

October 16 – November 12, 2023

This course focuses on the alignment of teaching materials to the College and Career Readiness Standards on English language arts (ELA) and the application of the standards in the classroom using practical tools and strategies.

Mastering the English Language Proficiency Standards

October 23 – November 19, 2023

This course will introduce participants to the English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards and provide strategies for using the standards to guide and inform instruction.

Communities of Practice

Motivation and Persistence for Adult Learners, at Hemet Adult School

September 4 – October 15, 2023

This training examines nine strategies for improving adult learners’ motivation and persistence and offers adult educators the opportunity to practice and internalize them. Participants must attend two face-to-face sessions at Hemet Adult School.

Supporting Student Transitions to Post-Secondary Education and the Workforce, for Capital Adult Education Regional Consortium

September 11 – October 29, 2023

This module examines examples of effective partnerships and new initiatives and best practices for impactful services for adult learners’ post-secondary and workforce transitions. A strong emphasis is placed on practical implementation tools and processes for and within consortia.
