Barbering
Start your career in the barbering industry with Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education's 1000-Hour Barbering Program. This state approved certification course is designed to prepare students for employment in the barbering profession and for successful completion of the California State Board Barbering Examination. Students receive professional, hands-on training in haircutting and styling, hair coloring, skin care, shaving and men's hair replacement.

Program Options:
Full-Time Day Track
- Complete the program in 3 quarters
- Registration Fee: $610.00 per quarter. Fees are paid quarterly and do not include books, supplies or barbering kit
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Part-Time Evening Track
- Complete the program in 4 quarters
- Registration Fee: $457.50 per quarter. Fees are paid quarterly and do not include books, supplies or barbering kit
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Additional Required Expenses
- Barbering Kit: $814.00 (left-handed kit available for an additional $32.00)
- Purchase of the barbering kit is required
- Required Textbooks: $405.00
- Includes English-language textbook and The Job Hunting Handbook
- Spanish-language textbooks available at an additional cost
- State Board Application Fee: $125.00
- Additional Supplies and Uniforms: $459.83
Student Accident Insurance
BPACE Student Accident Insurance is required for all students enrolled in Career Technical Education (CTE) programs that include a clinical component and other programs with safety requirements.
- Annual Insurance Fee: $15.00
- Coverage period: July through June
- The fee must be paid each year of enrollment.
Important Information
- Barbering kits and uniforms must be purchased on the first day of class.
- Barbering kits and uniforms are non-refundable.
- Uniform requirement includes a minimum purchase of four (4) black BPACE shirts and one (1) sweatshirt.

Financial Aid:
Financial Aid services are available. A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grants usually are awarded only to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s or professional degree. Grants start from $740.00 to $7,395.00 and students are able to apply online (click this link to go to our Financial Aid Section).
