Adult Secondary Education

BPACE offers students another chance at a high school diploma.  We focus on helping students who have left school in the past few months or years.  Whether you are just starting high school or you have already completed several credits, we can help!
 

Teachers are always available for one-to-one tutoring and small group instruction.  Earn your high school diploma at your own pace!

Earn a High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate

The Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education High School Subjects program can help.  We have a very knowledgeable staff that can help you reach your goals.  Our classes are teacher directed and self-paced which enables you to be successful.  These classes in the High School Diploma Program will also prepare you for college study.  Many of our students who have gone on to college to perform well and get excellent grades.

 

GED/HiSET Preparation in English and Spanish

We have several different methods to evaluate your needs and help you to attain a High School Equivalency Certificate.  Classes are offered during the day and evening.

 

Adult Independent Study

BPACE offers an Adult Independent Study program for those students unable to attend classes during regular hours.  Individuals who are interested in this course need to see the counselor and take the CASAS test to qualify for entrance into this program. 

 

High School Subject Requirements:

Students must see a counselor to enroll for these courses.  Credits may be granted for courses completed in other states or countries.  Call (626) 939-4456 for more information or to schedule your appointment. 

 

Classes and Credits:

Students must earn a total of 180 credits

     • English - 40 credits

     • Social Studies - 30 credits

     • Math (Includes 1 year of Algebra) - 30 credits

     • Science -  20 credits

     • Fine Arts or Foreign Language - 10 credits

     • Electives  50 Credits

 

Elective credits may be granted for past or present work experience or military service.  Additional requirements; First Aid and 1 year of Algebra.

 

Algebra

The HSS Algebra course meets the requirements of a one-year High School algebra course and offers a variety of ways to achieve completion. You can do it self-directed, with tutoring or as a class. The same book and format are utilized to meet state and district requirements.

 

Computers

The HSS programs also have networked computers that students have access to. Students have access to network computers with Microsoft Office.

 

Lessons & Lectures

Teachers will provide lessons and lectures on one or more subjects during each class period.

 

GED Preparation

The HSS class also provides GED Preparation. We have several different methods to evaluate your needs and help you attain a GED Certificate.
